tabulator use cases: when can we meet? and PathCross

I keep all sorts of calendar info in the web, as do my colleagues and the groups and organizations we participate in.

Suppose it was all in RDF, either directly as RDF/XML or indirectly via GRDDL as hCalendar or the like.

Wouldn't it be cool to grab a bunch of sources, and then tabulate names vs. availability on various dates?

I would probably need rules in the tabulator; Jos's work sure seems promising.

Closely related is the PathCross use case...

Suppose I'm travelling to Boston and San Francisco in the next couple months. I'd like my machine to let me know I have a FriendOfaFriend who also lives there or plans to be there.

Often at W3C, we deal with i18n, accessibility, device independence as to be sure that the technology itself doesn't create any walls for people or machines with specific needs.

I'm often how much, we take into consideration, the notion of privacy (let's say ACLs) in the technologies which implies the semantic web, personal data, etc.

For example in your post here, my process of thoughts went like this.

  1. Yes great, mixing calendar. It means I could for example organize a film festival schedule.
  2. For colleagues and Friends, hmmm, yes maybe, but I want granular information, which means ACLs on each individual events and not only the usual: world, friends, me (which is rather over simplistic)
  3. Then I have read the PathCross, and I see someone inviting people to share their calendars and here for me it's starting to be wrong. Sharing with friends, and only some type of information, sharing everything in the wild is becoming a turn off. Because for example I don't want private companies collecting datas about my moves, or anykind of related issues.

So, how to be sure to have the right level of granularity, and privacy in the technologies we develop AND the software codes which are released.
