http://dig.csail.mit.edu/2007/tab/release/tabulator-0-8-1.xpi identifies itself to firefox users as Tabulator 0.9
13:47:20 [sandro]
(when you install it.)
14:20:33 [timbl]
Hmmm
14:20:58 [timbl]
Must be in the install.rdf somewhere .. thought it was fixed
14:21:02 [timbl]
thanks
14:21:59 [timbl]
Strange ... install.rdf: <em:version>0.8.1</em:version>
14:22:36 [timbl]
The old one had 0.9 in it maybe.
14:22:42 [timbl]
I noticed when I uninstalled it.
14:22:50 [timbl]
Are you sure you have the new one?
14:23:08 [timbl]
you have icons for different panes (like views in outline mode)

timbl, yes, I have 5 icon/buttons for panes.
16:28:40 [sandro]
is there a way to get tabulator to re-read a source?
16:29:29 [sandro]
(other than re-starting firefox. :-)
16:31:44 [sandro]
neither reload nor refresh helps.
16:31:53 [sandro]
(which they should, I think.)
16:40:35 [oshani]
sandro: AFAIK tabulator's kb only clears on firefox restart
16:42:44 [timbl]
To re-read a source ... you can if yu click on a green balll, after asking firefox to clear its cache.
16:43:08 [timbl]
Clicking on a red ball wil retry it.
16:43:33 [timbl]
In the onle version we had a delete and a refresh icons but they were removed in a reqrite of it the sources modeul.
16:43:52 [timbl]
In the extension, the data sources list is read-only, no clickabilty

you'd agree that's a show-stopper bug on serious use of tabulator?

18:04:16 [timbl]
Not being able to reload?
18:04:21 [timbl]
I think it is in ffox too.
18:04:39 [timbl]
But developers are probably the only people who use shift-reload a lot
18:04:46 [timbl]
Maybe there is inrastructure for it
18:04:50 [timbl]
m the code
18:08:24 [sandro]
I agree -- plain reload should be sufficient. That should make sure the data displayed is up to date with the data out on the web. But with tabulator it doesn't do that. If the RDF source tells me what song is currently playing on a stream, it's going to display the same song in Tabulator until firefox happens to crash.
18:09:36 [sandro]
So it's fine for static RDF, but not for time, temperature, who is on the call, what the agenda is, what decisions were made, what a stock price is, what the status of an issue or test case is, etc, etc,
18:11:13 [sandro]
I don't really see how the bug can be in firefox per se. I mean, other extensions (eg firebug) work with the current data on the page, not the data that was on the page the first time it was visited.
18:11:38 [sandro]
But it may be in how the tabulator extension fits into firefox....

Do you know about "Clear Private Data"?
18:57:21 [timbl]
It allows you to clear ffox's cache.
18:57:38 [timbl]
You hav to set it up in ht eprefs so that Clear Private Data just clears the cache and not your cookies for example.
18:58:34 [timbl]
It is a bug in firefox that there is no "reload this from the source" button.
18:58:48 [timbl]
s/button/function/
18:58:57 [timbl]
in XMLHTTPRequest
18:59:22 [timbl]
It will use its cache aggressibvvely, EVEN IN A NEW SESSION. This GOOD.
18:59:34 [timbl]
But when you are testing stuff, it is tricky.
18:59:53 [timbl]
I haven't testd whether it will restect an expiry date of a few minutes
18:59:59 [timbl]
when you referesh
19:00:16 [timbl]
ike for tmperature readings.
19:00:21 [timbl]
Do you have an example source?
