- Hi Tim!
- 16:28:31 [webr3]
- jorash, do you have a paper / link to anything you've written on the topic?
- 16:30:46 [jorash]
- Blog is linked to from www.noospheer.org --- a paper is commencing shortly, until now we've been gathering research and determining an approach based sound/accepted research. The core of the strategy is a circuit class known to collapse the polynomial hierarchy if sampled classically in linear time, called post-IQP http://arxiv.org/abs/1005.1407
- 16:32:52 [jorash]
- Post IQP runs a quantum walk which is exponentially small as a function of n in comparison with the traditional walk. This then runs a quantum fourier transform which is efficient in a purely classical context. Finally the system is sampled by single quasiparticle. The hypothesis is that these elements satisfy post-IQP prequisites for PH collapse.
- 16:33:32 [jorash]
- The closest thing we have to a paper just yet: http://www.noospheer.org/phc4.png

- Most quantum people will give the rather lame "efficient quantum emulation on a Turing machine is impossible", or "lots of smart people haven't figured out the answer yet so its improbable". However, even Aaronson (whom I spoke to when I drove out to CSAIL last November) was willing to very reluctantly entertain the possibility.

- 17:02:50 [jorash]
- I should note, we are building the emulator in order to act as an optimization engine for our P2P spatial database. The core idea behind it is to act as an open platform for data integration, dragging in sources from different formats/ontologies/schemes, and then visualizing this space generically, in browser.
