deiu: yes that's odd I seem to be getting an error in firefox (24.0) with ajax in the latest version ... it used to work before
20:02:35 [deiu]
I think that's the reason why timbl couldn't get ld-cal to work :(
20:02:54 [melvster]
let me try, ld-cal works for me in opera and chromium
20:03:41 [melvster]
deiu: yes firefox seems to have issues :(
20:05:49 [deiu]
btw melvster, I've created an installer/deployer for web apps
20:06:08 [melvster]
deiu: wow ... pointer? presbrey was also interested in something like this
20:06:15 [deiu]
https://github.com/rww-apps/ld-cal/blob/master/deploy.sh
20:06:29 [deiu]
it's rudimentary, but it's better than nothing
20:07:03 [deiu]
it's based on curl
20:07:33 [melvster]
deiu: cool!
20:07:38 [deiu]
and it can even use client certs for authenticated requests :)
20:07:43 [melvster]
yes i saw :)
20:12:38 [deiu]
hmm, I need to add a filter for .git dir

done, deploy.sh should now ignore the .git dir
20:29:38 [melvster]
deiu: great!
20:31:00 [deiu]
it would be cool to be able to deploy git repos directly on rww.io

"Clone" button :)
20:32:04 [deiu]
though sanitizing the app would be a pain
20:35:42 [melvster]
deiu: when we get app builders we can make clone apps, make changes, then contribute them back to the original :)
20:36:27 [jorash]
timbl: what's this about supporting video DRM for html5 in order to get companies to use it --- clearly DRM doesn't work anyway. If audio/video is getting to a user, there is *always* a means to rip content. This is just unnecessary bulk in support of orgs that won't even get value out of it
20:41:32 [melvster]
jorash: see http://www.w3.org/blog/2013/05/perspectives-on-encrypted-medi/
20:42:01 [melvster]
all seems perfectly reasonable and consistent with how the web has always been, imho, but what do I know! :)
20:45:34 [timbl]
jorash, you mean to get cos to use html5 -- yes..
20:45:48 [timbl]
that is one important argument, to get them to drop flash etc
20:49:07 [jorash]
melvster, timbl: it seems like this is overstep on W3C's purpose -- which is to facilitate standards in support of an open web. DRM serves to close the web and create legal frameworks in which devs can be prosecuted for playing with code. DRM further does nothing to protect content -- my browser is rendering the A/V, so I can rip it, very easy.
20:50:19 [timbl]
DRM is a technical thing, it doe snot create legal framework. Treaty go create legal frameworks.
20:50:31 [timbl]
We can change legal frameworks where they are wrong
20:50:36 [timbl]
We must
20:50:39 [timbl]
in fact.
20:51:31 [melvster]
+1 FWIW :)
20:51:38 [jorash]
DRM is backed by DMCA in the US and EUCD in Europe
20:51:49 [jorash]
you're tampering -- computer crime
20:54:16 [jorash]
netflix thinks some private key auth system will protect their content from rips? It makes no sense -- as long as my browser is rendering content it can be ripped at the full resolution it's streaming at. So the DRM this standard will implement serves no effective purpose other than to inspire crackers
20:54:48 [jorash]
Further, you're asking orgs like Mozilla to run/add infrastructure in order to implement this standard, and in Moz's case this goes completely against their mission

deiu: wow the deploy script worked really well
21:10:31 [melvster]
just deployed the app to https://demo.rww.io/ld-cal/
21:10:38 [melvster]
it pulls in all my calendar dates perfectly
21:10:49 [deiu]
melvster, https://gist.github.com/deiu/6891239
21:10:54 [deiu]
it's on a gist now
21:11:24 [melvster]
deiu: nice idea
21:12:17 [melvster]
cc presbrey ^^
21:12:51 [deiu]
feel free to improve it :)
21:13:47 [melvster]
deiu: will do, we can have a whole deploy and install procedure
21:13:54 [melvster]
this is a good start tho
21:14:32 [melvster]
btw Soeren Auer was telling me that webid and DSSN are deployed in ontowiki
21:14:56 [melvster]
lots of people seem to be using ontowiki
21:15:05 [melvster]
at least in lod2
21:15:45 [deiu]
that's great
21:16:09 [melvster]
we should talk to sebastian tramp about some integrations
21:17:42 [deiu]
I'm helping Olivier Berger to add WebID (identity) for Debian maintainers
21:17:51 [melvster]
ooh nice!
21:18:09 [melvster]
i wasnt sure they would want to do that
21:18:12 [deiu]
so they can link identities across different list of packages (upstream/downstream) and bug trackers
21:18:23 [melvster]
brilliant
21:18:40 [deiu]
we're starting with WebID...and hopefully soon they will also agree to WebID-TLS
21:18:58 [deiu]
at least it will be nice to have persistent IDs
21:19:22 [deiu]
anyway, I'm off now
21:19:29 [deiu]
talk more tomorrow
