15:18:24 [deiu]
melvster: not really
15:20:16 [deiu]
it's not really user-friendly, at least not until we find a way around client certs
15:21:01 [melvster]
deiu: I love it already ... gonna be awesome when we get 3-4 using it, im going to automate status updates, syndicate and add a tipping bot
15:21:17 [melvster]
i love channels too
15:21:22 [melvster]
great idea
15:27:21 [melvster]
deiu: any thoughts on what features you'd like added?
15:28:00 [deiu]
inlining of images/videos would be cool
15:28:19 [deiu]
so they display in the post instead of just appearing as a link
15:28:34 [melvster]
Oh yeah, that'd be awesome
15:28:44 [melvster]
tricky tho
15:29:15 [melvster]
i think that's the job of the presentation layer, rather than, the underlying data
15:31:28 [sandro]
deiu, are you in DIG meeting?
15:31:34 [deiu]
yes, that's the client's job
15:31:39 [deiu]
sandro: nope
15:31:49 [deiu]
shit, I forgot
15:32:03 [sandro]
it's fu ming presenting his app-privacy work.
15:32:11 [deiu]
are you in the meeting?
15:32:26 [deiu]
sorry, I got distracted by work
15:33:03 [deiu]
besides, I'm familiar with his work
15:33:42 [sandro]
it's making me think that with LDP it's very hard to do something I think we want, where apps ask for data, and the user/user policy gets to decide if they get it. Like the app wants your location history, so it has to ask permission for it. It's easy/fine as long as location history is it's own resource, but if it's not something so easily segmented, it's hard. Maybe these things have to be segmented to be managable.
15:34:06 [sandro]
yes, i'm dialed in.

15:34:53 [deiu]
sandro: or have ACLs at the triple level?
15:35:05 [deiu]
maybe using SPARQL?
15:35:38 [sandro]
yes, but ... we've been trying to keep the architecture free of both of those.
15:37:06 [deiu]
the way I see it, users will never get to make this decision
15:37:12 [deiu]
the app will know how to segment data
15:38:06 [sandro]
The app the collects the data has to know how to segment it, and then let the user see those segments, and control what gets to see which segments in the future?

15:38:45 [deiu]
the user only sees the UI
15:39:35 [deiu]
so the UI needs to be very intuitive and clear about the kind of choices it offers to the user
15:39:41 [sandro]
This would be a privacy-control UI, separate from the app UI.
15:40:01 [deiu]
it could be a library, or it could be built-in
15:40:57 [sandro]
I think it's a protocol, with one or more UIs. It's basically the ACL protocol.
15:41:38 [sandro]
(This suggests we need "ask-me" ACLs. Where access can be denied, and then the app can explain why it wants access, in reasonable hope you'll say yes.)

as I'm thinking about it, filtering by ontology might make a lot of sense. (but doesn't match our architecture, unless different ontology data is kept in different resources.)
